Keble College

RESEARCH FELLOW AND TUTORSHIP APPOINTMENTS

Keble College proposes to elect three Research Fellows and Tutors in the following subjects: Politics, Mathematics, Physiology, and Pharmacology. The Fellowships will be for a period of four years (fixed-term, non-renewable) from 1 October 2005. Scholars in receipt of another source of income, who would like a College association, are welcome to apply.

Politics

The person elected will have research interests in any area of Political Science and will be required to teach the core undergraduate paper in Comparative Government and the institutional components of Prelims. An ability to teach further Politics options papers would be welcome. The teaching responsibility will be five hours a week averaged over the academical year for which the post-holder will receive a stipend of £4,680 (adjustable annually). The Fellow may be asked to help in a limited way with the academic and pastoral organization of the subject and to participate in undergraduate admissions. Mathematics

The person elected will have research interests in Pure Mathematics and will be required to teach Algebra, Group Theory, and Fields, as well as Geometry at undergraduate level; teaching ability for topology and integration would be an advantage. The teaching responsibility will be four hours a week averaged over the academical year, for which the post-holder will receive a stipend of £3,744 (adjustable annually). The Fellow may be asked to help in a limited way with the academic and pastoral organization of the subject and to participate in undergraduate admissions. Physiology and Pharmacology

The person elected will have research interests in cellular and/or systems Physiology and will be required to teach Physiology and related Pharmacology to students in all three years of the preclinical Medicine and Physiology courses, and to the first year of the College's graduate-entry medics. The teaching responsibility will be four hours a week averaged over the academical year for which the post-holder will receive a stipend of £3,744 (adjustable annually). This obligation will be largely discharged by teaching students who are members of Keble. The Fellow may be asked to help in a limited way with the academic and pastoral organization of the subject and to participate in admissions.
