The papers available for German have been reorganized: the title of Paper Ge. 3 (A prescribed topic in German literature since 1750) has been amended; the Paper Ge. 5 (The making of German culture, 2) which is to be introduced from 1 October 2005 has been renumbered as Ge. 14 and together with Papers Ge. 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13 will be available in Part II only; two new Papers Ge. 5 and Ge. 6, which will be available in Part IB only, have been introduced. Schedules B, IB, and II have been amended as follows:
By retitling Paper Ge. 3, renumbering Paper Ge. 5 as Ge. 14, and introducing two new Papers Ge. 5 and Ge. 6 as follows:

The Faculty Board of Modern and Medieval Languages give notice that Paper Ru. 5 (Russian literature, history, and culture, from 1676 to 1801) has been suspended with effect from 1 October 2005 until further notice (the paper will not be available for examination in 2006). The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate's preparation for the examination in 2006 will be adversely affected by this amendment.

The detail has been amended, with effect from 1 October 2005, so as to read:
The examination will consist of a twenty-minute conversation between the candidate and the Examiners on a topic of the candidate's own choice or one chosen by the candidate from a list of four topics specified for each language by the Faculty Board. The topics specified by the Faculty Board, which will be appropriate to the range of papers available in Schedule II, will be announced not later than the division of the Easter Term each year for the examination to be held in October of the following year.
The maximum mark allocated to the oral examination will be half the maximum mark allocated to each of Papers C1 and C2.
