Gonville and Caius College

DEAN OR CHAPLAIN

Applications are sought for the post of either Dean or Chaplain at Gonville and Caius College with effect from 1 October 2005. The appointment is open to men and women in Priest's orders in the Church of England or a Church in communion with it.

If a Dean is appointed, the person will be a scholar of high standing preferably with the degree of Ph.D., and will be elected into a Fellowship. He or she will be responsible for running Chapel services during University Full Term and will exercise a pastoral role in the College as a whole. The office is by College statute an annual appointment, and the College would expect to renew the person annually, subject to review, in the long term. The remuneration will be at the level of a College Teaching Officer.

If a Chaplain is appointed, the person will be responsible for running Chapel services during University Full Term and will exercise a pastoral role in the College as a whole, but there is no expectation that that he or she would engage in academic research. The post is for three years, with the possible renewal for a further two years only, and carries full membership of the Senior Combination Room. The remuneration will be that of an Assistant Curate as recommended by the Central Stipends Authority of the Church of England.

Closing date for applications is 15 January 2005. Further particulars are available from the Master's Secretary at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, CB2 ITA (e-mail masters.secretary@cai.cam.ac.uk).
