University College

ADMISSIONS OFFICER

Applications are invited for the post of Admissions Officer, a key position based in a small but sociable office. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with a degree or extensive equivalent professional experience who is keen on a career in student administration. The post-holder will have extensive interaction with students, academic staff, College officers, parents, and teachers, as well as colleagues in the central University and other Colleges; a pleasant manner and good communication skills are therefore essential. At the same time, the officer will be involved in student number planning and systems development, for which excellent IT skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel or equivalent, and of databases such as Access are required.

The first call on the post-holder's time will be the undergraduate admission process. Time permitting, he or she will also be expected to provide some support for graduate admissions, particularly in relation to the introduction of the new Oracle-based graduate student system (OSS, also known as Project Isidore), which will in due course be extended to undergraduate admissions. Knowledge, and experience of the collegiate university and/or of higher education would be an advantage.

The post-holder will have the use of a newly refurbished office within the College Office, a suite of rooms constituting the central hub of the College. Some flexibility to work longer hours during the undergraduate admissions weeks in December, in return for time off in lieu, is desirable. There is a generous holiday entitlement, free lunches, and a contributory pension scheme.

The salary is in the range of £19,460 to £21,640 (plus a discretionary range of up to £27,116).

Further particulars are available from the College Secretary, Mrs Jane Vicat (tel. 01865 276677, e-mail jane.vicat@univ.ox.ac.uk) or at http://www.univ.ox.ac.uk/. Applications in the form of a curriculum vitae and a covering letter should be sent to the College Secretary by a closing date of 26 November. Applicants should arrange for two referees to send references to the College Secretary by the same date. Interviews are expected to take place on 2 December (subject to confirmation).
