University Lectureships in the Statistical Laboratory

Applications are invited for two University Lectureships in the Statistical Laboratory, open to candidates who are active in statistics. The successful candidates will have a strong research record.

The successful candidates may be recent Ph.D. graduates. The duties of both posts include contributing to the teaching and research of the Laboratory. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer starts at £24,820 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £38,303 a year. Appointees will be placed at an appropriate point on this scale.

Administrative Officer, Grade II (Treasury and Investments Accountant) in the Finance Division of the University Offices

The Treasury and Investments Section requires an accountant to report to, and work closely with, the Head of Treasury and Investments. In this varied and high-volume section, accuracy and attention to detail, together with the ability to meet regular deadlines are essential.

The key responsibilities are:

Daily cash flow management

Operation and maintenance of investment fund accounts

Supporting the preparation of monthly monitoring and management reporting

Ensuring operational compliance with section procedures and Financial Regulations

Completion of ad hoc projects

Providing support and assistance to the Head of Treasury and Investments

Previous experience of a computerized accounts system is required. Knowledge of Oracle Financials would be an advantage but full training will be given as necessary. The post-holder will be highly numerate and well organized with strong prioritization and problem solving skills. The post-holder will be IT literate with a good working knowledge of Word and Excel. Experience of Access would also be an advantage.

The post-holder will ideally have a formal accounting qualification (e.g. AAT) and experience of staff management. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is £22,508 to £29,127 a year. The closing date for applications is 29 October. The interview date is 9 November.

Senior Technical Officer (Laboratory and Facilities Manager) in the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) in the Clinical School

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Laboratory and Facilities Manager to join the management team at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research in the Clinical School.

The post-holder will lead and manage the scientific and technical support staff and facilities for the Institute and responsibilities will include health and safety, equipment procurement, and budget management.

Candidates should be suitably qualified, ideally to HNC/degree level or equivalent, and it is expected that the post-holder will have at least ten years' experience in a similar role within a biological laboratory environment. Facilities management experience and knowledge of health and safety regulations are essential, whilst experience of managing staff would be a distinct advantage.

The pensionable scale of stipends for a Senior Technical Officer is £24,820 to £35,883 a year. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of nine months.
