JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN MATHEMATICS

SHAW FOUNDATION JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN LAW

Jesus College proposes to elect to two Junior Research Fellowships, tenable for three years from 1 October 2005. The posts are open to men or women intending to pursue research in (a) any field of Mathematics; (b) any field of Law. The Fellowships each carry a stipend of £19,460 in the first year. In addition, the Fellows will be entitled to free rooms and meals in College.

Further information on both Fellowships may be accessed at the Jesus College website (http://www.jesus.ox.ac.uk/notices), or obtained from the Principal's Secretary, Jesus College, Oxford, OX1 3DW (e-mail helen.gee@jesus.ox.ac.uk), who should receive applications by 12 November. It is the responsibility of applicants to ask their referees (three are required) to send their references direct to the Principal's Secretary by the same date.

ADMISSIONS OFFICER

Jesus College has a vacancy for a full-time, responsible, and efficient Admissions Officer to handle both undergraduate and graduate admissions, and to assist with our academic administration: the vacancy arises from the promotion within the College of the existing post-holder. It offers an interesting opportunity for someone with excellent organizational, IT, and inter-personal skills to have a significant role in one of the College's most important functions, the selection of its students.

The post-holder should have a high level of competence in database work, in particular, experience in Microsoft Access and Excel, together with word-processing using Microsoft Word. The post-holder will need good organizational skills, with the ability to use one's own initiative, to work under pressure at busy times, and to meet deadlines. Knowledge or experience of the University and/or its Colleges would be an advantage.

The post is available immediately, but a mutually convenient starting date will be agreed with the successful applicant. The hours of work are 35 a week, with flexibility required to work longer hours during undergraduate admissions (in return for time off in lieu). The salary is on the scale of £19,460 to £21,640 a year. Other benefits include a contributory staff pension scheme (Oxford Staff Pension Scheme); holiday entitlement of 38 days; and a free lunch when on duty.

Further particulars are available from the Assistant Bursar, Jesus College, Oxford, OX1 3DW (tel. 01865 279716, e-mail rosemary.frame@jesus.ox.ac.uk), or at http://www.jesus.ox.ac.uk/. Applicants should submit an application form (available from the Assistant Bursar), a curriculum vitae, and covering letter to the Assistant Bursar by the closing date of 28 October. Applicants should also ask two referees to write to the Assistant Bursar by the closing date. It is expected that interviews will take place on 12 November.
