RAMSEY COMMEMORATIVE LECTURE

The centenary of the birth in Cambridge of Arthur Michael Ramsey, Archbishop of Canterbury, 1961-74, falls in November 2004. There will be a national series of commemorative lectures in places with which he was associated. The Cambridge lecture will be sponsored by Magdalene College, of which Ramsey was a Scholar (1923-27), a Fellow (as Regius Professor of Divinity, 1950-52), and Honorary Fellow (1952-88). The lecture will be given by the Anglican Bishop in Europe, the Rt Revd Dr Geoffrey Rowell, Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe, on 27 October 2004, in Benson Hall, Magdalene College, at 5.15 p.m. The lecture, which will be accompanied by a small exhibition of Ramsey memorabilia, and followed by a drinks reception for those attending, is open to all who are interested. Admission is by ticket from the Master's Secretary.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

A memorial service for Sir David Calcutt, QC, M.A., LL.B., Mus.B., FRCM, Master of Magdalene College, 1986-94, Honorary Fellow (1994-2004), who died on 11 August 2004, aged 73 years, will be held in Great St Mary's Church on Saturday, 20 November 2004, at 2.30 p.m. Refreshments will be available afterwards in Benson Hall at Magdalene College.
