Director of the University Computing Service: Notice

Applications are invited for the Directorship of the University Computing Service (UCS). It is intended that the successful candidate will take up the appointment with effect from 1 January 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Director is formally Head of Department, with responsibility for the Service's staff (numbering more than 100), an annual budget of some £6m, and the management and planning of the UCS. The Director will also be Secretary of the Information Technology Syndicate, which is the University body responsible for advising the General Board on IT policy matters and for supervising the work of the UCS.

Applicants will be expected to have experience of strategic planning in a complex organizational structure; be able to demonstrate senior leadership; have a comprehensive current knowledge of IT systems; and have experience of managing substantial annual budgets. The salary for this post is £66,169.
