Magdalene College intends to appoint two or more writers in residence to take part in the College's year-long Festival of Literature in the academical year 2005-06.
The writers will be expected to live in College during either the Michaelmas (Winter) Term or the Easter (Summer) Term, offering at least four workshops on any aspect of creative writing to students of the College (and, at the Director of Studies' discretion, other invited students of the University) and involving themselves actively in the College's outreach programme to encourage creative writing among pupils at local schools and in our target regions. Single accommodation and meals will be provided by the College for the period of Full Term and the writer will receive a stipend and reasonable expenses within the UK. Successful applicants will need to be cleared to work with young people by the Criminal Records Bureau (the College can help with the paperwork).
