Earth Sciences. Dr Christina Lareine De La Rocha, B.A., University of California, Santa Cruz, Ph.D., University of California, Santa Barbara, appointed from 1 October 2003 for four years.
History of Art. Dr Alyce Mahon, T, B.A., Trinity College, Dublin, Ph.D., London, appointed from 1 October 2003 for five years.
Pharmacology. Dr Hendrik Willem van Veen, CL, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., Wageningen, Netherlands, appointed from 1 January 2004 until the retiring age.
Social Anthropology. Dr Nikolai V. Ssorin-Chaikov, SID, Diplom., Moscow State, M.A., Ph.D., Stanford, appointed from 1 October 2003 for five years.
Oriental Studies. Mrs Françoise Simmons, M.A., W, M.A., London, appointed Librarian, Grade B, from 1 February 2004 until the retiring age.
University Offices (Academic Division). Ms Catherine McKiernan, M.Phil., CC, B.A., York, appointed Administrative Officer, Grade II, from 1 December 2003 until the retiring age, with duties in the School of Biological Sciences.
Classics. Dr Elizabeth Kathleen Irwin, Ph.D., G, B.A., Columbia, B.A., Oxford, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2003 for two years.
Social and Political Sciences. Dr David Walter Runciman, T, reappointed from 1 January 2004 until the retiring age.
