Elections, appointments, grants of title, and reappointments

The following elections, appointments, grants of title, and reappointments have been made:

Elections

Professor Christopher John Hill, M.A., D.Phil., Oxford, Montague Burton Professor of International Relations, London School of Economics and Political Science, elected Sir Patrick Sheehy Professor of International Relations from 1 October 2004.

Professor Ullrich Steiner, Dipl. Phys., Konstanz, Germany, Dr. rer. nat., Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, Professor of Polymer Chemistry, University of Gröningen, elected John Humphrey Plummer Professor, from a date yet to be determined.

Appointments

University Lecturers

Computer Laboratory. Dr Pietro Liò, Laurea, Dottorato, Firenze, appointed from 1 January 2004 for three years.

Earth Sciences. Dr Albert Jean Bernard Galy, D.E.A., Ph.D., Nancy, appointed from 1 October 2003 for five years.

Italian. Dr Abigail Sarah Brundin, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., CTH, appointed from 1 October 2003 for five years.

Assistant Registrary

University Offices (Research Services Division). Mrs Dawn Gayle Barker appointed from 1 December 2003 until the retiring age.

Librarian

Music. Ms Anna Maria Lowies F. Pensaert, Kandidaat, Licentiaat, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, appointed Librarian, Grade B, from 1 January 2004 until the retiring age.

Senior Advisory Officer

University Offices (Estate Management and Building Service). Mr Gerald Edward Dacey, appointed from 1 January 2004 until the retiring age.

Grants of Title

Affiliated Lecturers

Clinical Medicine. Dr Mark H. Reacher, Ph.D., DAR, M.B., B.S., London, M.Phil., Johns Hopkins, M.D., London, FRCS, FRCOphth, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 November 2003 for two years.

Land Economy. Ms Sue Chadwick, W, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2003 for a further year.

Oriental Studies. Dr Andrew Halper has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2003 for a further two years. Professor David George Wall, B.Sc., London, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2003 for two years.

Philosophy. Dr Derek Cameron Matravers, Ph.D., DAR, B.A., London, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 20 October 2003 for two years.

Slavonic Studies. Dr Brian Frederick Cooper, CTH, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2003 for a further two years.

Reappointments

University Lecturers

Computer Laboratory. Dr Richard John Gibbens, CAI, reappointed from 1 October 2004 until the retiring age. Dr Markus Guenther Kuhn, W, reappointed from 1 March 2004 until the retiring age. Dr Simone Heidi Teufel reappointed from 1 September 2004 until the retiring age.
