The following election, appointments, grants of title, and reappointments have been made:
Mr S. M. S. Honkapohja, M.Soc.Sc., L.Soc.Sc., D.Soc.Sc., Helsinki, Academy Professor, Academy of Finland and University of Helsinki, elected Professor of International Macroeconomics from 1 January 2004.
Law. Mr Angus Charles Johnston, TH, B.A., Oxford, LL.M., Leiden, B.C.L., Oxford, and Mr Benjamin Jonathan Parker, JN, M.A., B.C.L., Oxford, appointed from 1 January 2004 for three years.
Plant Sciences. Dr Alexander Arundel Ross Webb, CHU, B.Sc., Stirling, Ph.D., Lancaster, appointed from 1 January 2004 for five years.
University Offices (Research Services Division). Dr David Scally, B.Sc., London, M.Sc., Ph.D., Kent, appointed from 27 October 2003 until the retiring age.
University Computing Service. Dr Stephen Kearsey, M.A., Q, Ph.D., Durham, appointed from 1 October 2003 until the retiring age.
Clinical Medicine. Dr Anthony George William Norden, B.Sc., London, Ph.D., University of California, San Diego, M.B., B.S., London, FRCPath, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 November 2003 for two years.
Physics. Dr William Graham Proud, CLH, B.Sc., Ph.D., Newcastle, and Dr Ghassan Yassin, F, B.Sc., M.Sc., Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Ph.D., Keele, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2003 for two years.
Oriental Studies. Mr Kenji Yokota reappointed Lector in Japanese from 1 October 2003 for one year.
University Offices (Academic Division). Mrs Linda Jane Whitebread reappointed Administrative Officer, Grade II, from 1 July 2003 until the retiring age, with duties in the Board of Graduate Studies.
