OXFORD NOTICES

Merton College

DOMUS GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS (COMPETITION B)

The Scholarships are intended to assist students of outstanding academic excellence who for financial reasons would not otherwise be able to study at the University of Oxford. The Scholarships comprise payment of all College and University fees and an additional maintenance grant equivalent to that of the AHRB (£7,700 for 2003-04), payable in three termly instalments, net of accommodation, if applicable. Single accommodation, if required, is guaranteed for the first year of the Scholarship and may be available in the subsequent years. Subject to satisfactory progress, the Scholarships will be tenable for three years.

Competition B is open to graduates of any university with a first class honours degree, who are ordinarily resident in the UK, and have not done more than two years of postgraduate study or research, and have been accepted to begin a course of study leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford in October 2003 in any subject normally acceptable for graduate study at the College, and have no other funding which would allow them to do so. The College intends to award one or two Scholarships. Those interested in applying should contact the Secretary for Graduates, Merton College, Oxford, OX1 4JD (e-mail julieg@admin.merton.ox.ac.uk). Enquiries may be made at any time after 1 January 2003, but applications should be submitted no earlier than 15 August 2003. The closing date will be 1 September 2003.
