The Council submit the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 113), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 27 June 2003.
1. That, on the recommendation of the General Board, the regulations for payments to Examiners and Assessors (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 220) be amended, with effect from 1 October 2003, in accordance with their Notice (Reporter, p. 1050).
2. That, on the recommendation of the Board of Graduate Studies, the fees payable by candidates applying for the degrees of B.D., D.D., LL.D., Mus.D., Ph.D., M.Sc., M.Litt., Sc.D., and Litt.D., and the payments to Examiners, Assessors, and Referees for those degrees, be replaced, with effect from 1 October 2003, by the sums specified in the Schedule below, and that the regulations for the degrees (Statutes and Ordinances, Chapter VII) be amended accordingly.1

3. That, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine and with the concurrence of the General Board, the regulations for the degrees of Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery be amended, with effect from 1 October 2003, as follows:1
(A) The regulations for the degree of Doctor of Medicine (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 460):
Regulation 6.
By amending sub-paragraph (b) so as to read:
(b) an application fee of £200.
Regulation 9.
By amending sub-paragraph (c) so as to read:
(c) a submission fee of £460.
By amending the first six entries in the Schedule so as to read:
To the Chairman of the M.D. Committee at an Act, or to a deputy for the Chairman appointed under Regulation 5, for each candidate: £40.
To a referee (Regulation 6): £40.
To the Assessor for each candidate: £40.
To an Examiner (Regulation 10) for examining and reporting on a dissertation and for taking part in the conduct of the Act if required to do so: £120.
To an external Examiner who is required to take part in the conduct of the Act: an additional £80.
To an Examiner for taking part in a clinical examination at an Act: an additional £110.
(B) The regulations for the degree of Master of Surgery (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 463):
Regulation 4.
By amending sub-paragraph (d) so as to read:
(d) an application fee of £200.
Regulation 7.
By amending sub-paragraph (c) so as to read:
(c) a submission fee of £385.
By amending the first four entries in the Schedule so as to read:
To the person presiding at a viva voce examination: £40.
To a referee (Regulation 5): £40.
To an Examiner (Regulation 8) for examining and reporting on a thesis and for taking part in a viva voce examination if required to do so: £120.
To an external Examiner who is required to take part in a viva voce examination: an additional £80.
4. That the recommendations in paragraph 7 of the Report of the Council, dated 22 April 2003, on the appointment of Pro-Vice-Chancellors (Reporter, p. 813) be approved.2
