Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 343)

With effect from 1 October 2004

The Schedules to the regulations have been amended as follows:

SCHEDULE B

French

Paper Fr. 10 (French literature, thought, and history, since 1890) of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos has been replaced by a paper entitled 'French literature, visual culture, thought, and history, from 1890 to 1958'. Paper Fr. 11 (The history of the French language) has been renumbered as Paper Fr. 13 and a new Paper Fr. 11 has been introduced entitled 'Literature, visual culture, thought, and history in the French-speaking world, since 1945'. The current Paper Fr. 13 has been withdrawn.

The new Paper Fr. 11 will be available to candidates for Part II of the Tripos only.

Portuguese

Paper Pg. 5 (Portuguese literature, thought, and history, since 1850) and Paper Pg. 6 (Brazil and Lusophone Africa: literary and historical perspectives) have been removed. Two new papers, Paper Pg. 4 entitled 'Dreams of Empire: colonialism, dictatorship, and Fascism in Lusophone culture' and Paper Pg. 5 entitled 'Literature and culture of Portugal and Brazil from 1595', have been introduced.

The new Paper Pg. 4 will be available to candidates for Parts IB and II of the Tripos and the new Paper Pg. 5 will be available to candidates for Part II only.

SCHEDULE IB

By removing Papers Fr. 11†, Pg. 5†, and Pg. 6, and by adding Paper Pg. 4†.

SCHEDULE II

By removing Paper Pg. 6 and by adding Paper Pg. 4.
