Professor M. J. Grant will in due course resign as Pro-Vice-Chancellor following his appointment as Provost and President of University College London. Mrs A. M. Lonsdale has resigned as Pro-Vice-Chancellor from 30 September 2003.
Under Statute D, IV, 2 appointment and reappointment of a Pro-Vice-Chancellor is made by the Council on the nomination of the Vice-Chancellor. The Vice-Chancellor welcomes suggestions of names of suitable persons; such names should be communicated to him in writing as soon as possible at the University Offices, The Old Schools, Cambridge, CB2 1TN. He intends to consult the Vice-Chancellor elect, and also to implement the procedure set out in the Report of the Council on the appointment of Pro-Vice-Chancellors (see p. 813).
