GEORGE HOWELL GUEST, M.A., Mus.D., CBE, FRCO, Fellow of St John's College, 1956-2002, College Organist, 1951-91, College Lecturer and Director of Studies in Music, 1956-88, and University Lecturer in Music, 1956-82, died on Wednesday, 20 November 2002, aged 78 years.
FRANK SMITHIES, M.A., Ph.D., FRSE, Emeritus Reader in Functional Analysis, Fellow of St John's College, 1937-2002, College Lecturer and Director of Studies in Mathematics, 1945-79, and University Lecturer in Mathematics, 1947-62, died on Saturday, 16 November 2002, aged 90 years.
