New Hall

UNIVERSITY RESEARCH SCHEME

The College is a member of the University's Domestic Research Studentship Scheme. This is open to UK and EU students who wish to undertake research as registered Graduate Students in any field of study within the University - students must be registered as Ph.D. or prospective Ph.D. candidates.

Applications for this scheme are made through a Department or Faculty. Candidates for this shared studentship should name New Hall as their College of first choice on the CIGAS Form A application form and have to be nominated by their Department or Faculty. Applicants will be considered for an award in the summer preceding their October entry.

It is a condition of these awards that the candidates should also have applied for a studentship from the Arts and Humanities Research Board (AHRB) or other UK Research Council. This Studentship provides support similar to that of an AHRB Studentship (this includes University and College Fees where appropriate for UK and EU students, and UK applicants also receive an allowance for living expenses similar to that provided by the AHRB).

OVERSEAS BURSARIES

New Hall offers a number of Overseas Student Bursaries to assist women Graduate Students from outside the UK and EU by providing part funding for their course. The Bursaries are intended for outstanding overseas students who might not otherwise be able to fund their studies in Cambridge. Only available to students who list New Hall as College of first choice on their CIGAS Form A are eligible for these awards. No separate application is needed but candidates should write to the Tutorial Administrator at New Hall expressing their wish to be considered for a Bursary at the same time as they submit their CIGAS Form A to the Board of Graduate Studies.

THE STEPHAN KöRNER GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The Stephan Körner Graduate Scholarship is available for a graduate student in Philosophy, Classics or Law to assist in funding a full one-year MPhil and/or 3-year Ph.D. course. It is only available to students who list New Hall as College of first choice on their CIGAS Form A. No separate application is needed but candidates should write to The Tutorial Administrator at New Hall expressing their wish to be considered for a Bursary at the same time as they submit their CIGAS Form A to the Board of Graduate Studies. Applications should arrive no later than 1 April.
