Lundgren Fund: Notice

Statutes and Ordinances, 2002, p. 809

The Board of Graduate Studies invites applications for Lundgren Research Awards which they propose to make in April 2003 and October 2003. Awards may be made at least once a year to persons who are registered as candidates for the Ph.D. Degree provided that they are engaged in research in a scientific subject (which term shall be taken to include mathematics) and are not ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom. Candidates must have completed four terms of research as registered Graduate Students of the University, provided that they have shown a high aptitude for research and a devotion to study, and are in need of financial assistance. The Managers pay particular attention to the extent to which the applicant's financial difficulties are of an unforeseen nature. To avoid disappointment and unrealistic requests, applicants are asked to note that the average size of award rarely exceeds £1,000.

Applications must be sent to the Secretary of the Board's Research Awards Scheme, 4 Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RZ, so as to arrive not later than 31 March 2003 for consideration in April 2003, and not later than 30 September 2003, for consideration in October 2003. Forms of application may be obtained from the office of the Board of Graduate Studies.
