Centre for History and Economics

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Assistant at the Centre for History and Economics, based at King's College, Cambridge, for work on the newly established International Commission for Human Security, co-chaired by Mrs Sadako Ogata and Professor Amartya Sen. The headquarters of the Commission are in New York, closely linked with the United Nations. The Commission, which will report in June 2003, is concerned with ways of combating insecurity arising from economic and social deprivation as well as from political conflict and persecution. The work for which the Research Assistant is needed will be conducted at Cambridge, with Professor Sen. The appointment will be for a fixed term of two years, with a probationary period of three months. Typing, Internet, and basic computing skills will be needed. The salary will be attached to the appropriate University scale, depending on qualifications, age, and experience.
