Awards by outside bodies

University of Strathclyde

POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS, 2001-02

Applications are invited for a number of full-time research awards at the University of Strathclyde, tenable from October 2001.

The John Anderson Awards offer a maintenance allowance of £7,500 a year and are only open to candidates of outstanding academic merit. A first class honours degree or equivalent is essential. Standard Awards offer a maintenance allowance of £7,000 a year and are open to candidates with a good honours degree or equivalent.

The Studentships are tenable for three years. They are intended for students from the UK, European Union, or any other country, who will undertake research at the University of Strathclyde. Academic merit and research potential are the main criteria for selection. There will be a limited number of awards available for those who require only one year's financial support.

Candidates for the Studentships are put forward by Departments of the University of Strathclyde and cannot apply directly. Those seeking nomination for one of these awards should contact the Department they wish to join as soon as possible. There will be a dual round of nominations. The closing dates for Departments to return nominations are 30 March 2001 (for the first round) and 1 June 2001 (for the second round).

Further information about the Studentships may be obtained from Mrs Catherine Bonner, Registry-General/Scholarships, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, G1 1XQ (tel. 0141 5484581/3204, fax 0141 5525860, e-mail cathy.bonner@mis.strath.ac.uk), or from the University's website (http://www.strath.ac.uk/).
