New Hall

FESTIVAL OF FILMS

A festival of films by and about artists will be held in the Kaetsu Lecture Theatre, New Hall on 9-11 February.

Friday, 9 February

8.15 p.m. Experimental filmmaker, John Smith, will introduce and show a programme of his work: Om (4 minutes, 1986); Associations (7 minutes, 1975); The girl chewing gum (12 minutes, 1976); Gargantuan (1 minute, 1992); The black tower (24 minutes, 1986); Blight (14 minutes, 1996); The waste land (5 minutes, 1999); The kiss (5 minutes, 1999).

Saturday, 10 February

8:15 p.m. The quince tree sun (El sol del membrillo), dir. Víctor Erice (Spanish with English subtitles, 133 minutes, 1992). Inspired by the work of the celebrated national painter, Antonio López Garcia.

Sunday, 11 February

8.15 p.m. The draughtsman's contract, dir. Peter Greenaway (103 minutes, 1982). A rich landowner invites a young and ambitious draughtsman to his house, where he is persuaded to accept a strange commission.
