Serena Professorship of Italian: Notice

The Board of Electors to the Serena Professorship of Italian, which is based in the Department of Italian in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages, invite applications for this Professorship which will become vacant on 1 October 2002 on the retirement of Professor Patrick Boyde.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding research record and an international reputation within the field of Italian literature and culture. He or she must have the knowledge, experience, and leadership potential to continue and promote the tradition of Italian studies at Cambridge. He or she will also be expected to make a general contribution to the academic work of the University and, in particular, to the teaching and administration of the Italian Department and of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. The appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the University.

Further information may be obtained from the Deputy Secretary General of the Faculties, General Board Division, University Offices, The Old Schools, Cambridge, CB2 1TT, to whom a letter of application, marked 'Confidential', including details of current and future research plans, a curriculum vitae, and a publications list, should be sent, together with the names of two referees, so as to reach him not later than Friday, 2 March 2001.
