Leverhulme Trust

SPECIAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS, 2001

Approximately twenty Fellowships, each tenable for twenty-four months, are available from the beginning of the academical year 2001-02, in all subject areas. The awards are intended to enable successful candidates to undertake a significant piece of publishable research in a UK higher education institution. Applicants must be aged under thirty-five years and must hold a doctorate or have equivalent research experience by the time of starting the Fellowship. Applicants aged over thirty-five years may apply if they began their academic studies at a later age than usual or have had a career change or break. Applicants should not hold or have held a full-time, established post in a UK university or comparable UK institution, and must either hold a first degree from a UK higher education institution or be able to show evidence of equivalent education in the UK, or be (or have recently been) a member of the UK academic community and intend to remain so.

The Leverhulme Trust will contribute 50 per cent of the award-holder's total salary costs up to an annual limit of approximately £16,100, and the institution where the award is held will match this.

Application materials may be obtained, until 7 March 2001, from the Trust's website (http://www.leverhulme.org.uk/), or by sending an A4 envelope, stamped for 150g, to the Secretary, Research Awards Advisory Committee, Leverhulme Trust, 1 Pemberton Row, London, EC4A 3BG, quoting reference SRF2. No telephone requests for application details may be accepted. The closing date for applications is 4 p.m. on Wednesday, 14 March 2001.
