Examinations in Economics, Economics with Development, Economics with Econometrics, and Economics with Finance for the M.Phil. Degree, 2001

The Degree Committee for the Faculty of Economics and Politics give notice that, with effect from the examinations in 2001, the form of certain papers will be changed, as follows:

S200  Macroeconomics

This paper will contain two Sections, A and B. Candidates are required to answer three questions from Section A and one question from Section B.

Section A will carry two-thirds of the total marks, and Section B will carry one-third of the total marks. All questions in Section A have equal weight.

It is suggested that candidates allocate two hours to Section A and one hour to Section B.

S403  Theory of finance

This paper will contain two sections. Candidates are required to attempt four questions, with at least one question from each section. No calculator is allowed.

S210  Topics in advanced macroeconomics

Questions in Section A require short analytical and verbal responses. Questions in Section B are multipart and require longer analytical and verbal responses. Candidates are required to answer four questions: three questions from Section A (suggested time allocation of one hour) and one from Section B (suggested time allocation of one hour).

S320 AND S330  Advanced econometrics I AND II

These are new papers this year. Each paper will consist of two sections. Candidates will be required to answer four questions, two from each section.
