Annual Meetings of Faculties

Biology

The Chairman of the Faculty of Biology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Monday, 20 November 2000, in the Main Lecture Theatre of the Department of Physiology, Downing Street. The main business will be to elect two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) (Statute C, IV, 2(c)), in accordance with a procedure approved by the Faculty by which one of those elected is nominated by the Department of Anatomy, and one by the Department of Biochemistry. The representative of the Department of Anatomy will serve until 31 December 2004. The representative of the Department of Biochemistry will serve until 31 December 2004. The retiring members are Dr R. Dyball (Department of Anatomy) and Dr B. R. Martin (Department of Biochemistry).

Nominations, for which the consent of the candidate must be obtained, signed by the proposer and the seconder, together with notice of any other business, should be sent to the Secretary, Mr Jonathan Rees, Old Press Site, Silver Street, Cambridge, CB3 9EW, to arrive not later than Monday, 6 November 2000. If there is a contested election the Single Transferable Vote Regulations will apply (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 121). Copies of the Agenda will be posted in Departments in the Faculty.

Education

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Education gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, 16 November 2000, at the School of Education, Shaftesbury Road. The business of the meeting will include the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of four members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve from 1 January 2001 for four years in place of the retiring members: Dr M. J. Evans, Dr D. Frost, Dr P. W. Gardner, and Mr M. Younger, all of whom are eligible for re-election.

Nominations for these elections, signed by the proposer and the seconder and by the nominee, indicating willingness to serve if elected, and notice of any other business, should be sent to the Secretary of the Faculty of Education, 17 Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1QA, to reach her not later than Monday, 13 November 2000.

Engineering

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Engineering gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at l p.m. on Wednesday, 8 November 2000, in Lecture Room 6 of the Engineering Department. Ballot boxes will be available in the Press Site and the Whittle Laboratory. Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of one member in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2001.

Nominations and notice of any other business should be sent in writing to the Secretary, Dr D. R. H. Jones, to reach him not later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, 2 November 2000.

Modern and Medieval Languages

The Chairman of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Monday, 13 November 2000, in the Little Hall, Sidgwick Avenue. Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of three members in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2001.

Members of the Board who are coming to the end of their period of service are: Dr D. Keown, F, Dr A. G. Natali, G, and Dr A. J. Webber, CHU. All are eligible for re-election.

Nominations, duly seconded and accompanied by a statement of the nominee's consent to nomination, and notice of any other business for this meeting, should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board, Sidgwick Avenue, before Tuesday, 7 November 2000.

Music

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Music gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, 9 November 2000, in Lecture Room 2 of the University Music School. Among the business to be transacted will be the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of two members of the Faculty Board to serve for four years from 1 January 2001.

Nominations for the election and notice of any other business should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board, Mrs S. C. Round, Faculty of Music, 11 West Road, not later than Thursday, 2 November 2000.

Oriental Studies

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Oriental Studies gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 7 November 2000, in the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Sidgwick Avenue. The main business of the meeting will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2001. The retiring members are Mrs H. U. Laurie and Dr M. E. Lewis.

Nominations, signed by the proposer and the seconder, and notice of any business which a member wishes to be discussed, should be sent to the Administrator, Mr M. D. Bridger, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge, CB3 9DA, so as to reach him not later than Friday, 3 November 2000.
