Girton College

ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN

Girton College Library serves a community of some 500 undergraduates, 150 graduates, and the College Fellowship. Its book and journal stock covers all subjects taught within the University. It provides access to the Internet for academic support.

We are looking for a full-time Assistant Librarian to take up post in early January 2001. Applicants should be graduates with professional qualifications and working experience. Good management and communication skills are essential, together with a firm grasp of current cataloguing standards and hands-on knowledge of computerized library systems. Experience of Web-page authorship and the use and promotion of Internet resources in an academic context is also required.

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to education, the ability to motivate a small library team, and an enthusiasm for working with a wide range of users.

Hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (weekdays). The salary is equivalent to steps six to ten on the Cambridge University scales for academic-related staff, currently £16,775 - £20,465. The appointment will be made on the first step of this scale.
