There is very little change in the figures for 2000 compared with 1999.
The proportion of women within those accepted has increased from 45% to 48%.
For Home applications, the acceptances by school type are:
Maintained | 52% |
Independent | 48% |
Within the maintained sector, 7% come from maintained grammar schools, 11% from FE colleges and 34% from comprehensive and other non-selective schools.
89% of those accepted achieve three grade A's, counting their three best A-level results and excluding General Studies.
For comparison, 10% of those accepted by all UK universities, achieve these grades.
These figures are published here for the first time. They show considerable variation from year to year. For further information on Table 9, contact individual College Admissions Offices.
