Fitzwilliam College

The College invites applications for the following Graduate Scholarships and Studentships:

LEATHERSELLERS' GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The Scholarship is of the value of £2,000 a year, and is tenable for up to three years. It is open to home graduates from a British university who wish to undertake research in physical or biological sciences, in mathematics or in engineering at Fitzwilliam College. Priority will be given to the holder of the Scholarship in the allocation of a room in College or College housing.

COLLEGE GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The Scholarship is of the value of £1,250 a year, and is tenable for up to three years. It is open to graduates who wish to undertake research with the intention of proceeding to a Ph.D. Preference may be given to a graduate reading an arts subject. Priority will be given to the holder of the Scholarship in the allocation of a room in College or College housing.

E. D. DAVIES SCHOLARSHIP

The Scholarship is of the value of £1,250 a year, and is tenable for up to three years. It is open to graduates who wish to undertake research. Priority will be given to the holder of the Scholarship in the allocation of a room in College or College housing.

SHIPLEY STUDENTSHIP

The Studentship is of the value of £1,250 a year, and is tenable for one year. It is open to graduates who wish to undertake research in the Faculty of Divinity (or exceptionally, on a theological topic in another faculty). Priority will be given to the holder of the Studentship in the allocation of a room in College or College housing.

HIRST-PLAYER STUDENTSHIP

The Studentship is of a maximum value of £2,000 for one or two years. It is open to theology students who need assistance with payment of fees and who would otherwise be unable to read for a degree in Cambridge. Preference will be given to those intending to take Holy Orders in a Christian church.

J. R. W. ALEXANDER STUDENTSHIP

The Studentship is of the value of £1,000 a year, and is tenable for one year. It is open to graduates from a British university who wish to read for the LL.M. Degree at Fitzwilliam College. Priority will be given to the holder of the Studentship in the allocation of a room in College or College housing.

Candidates for the above scholarships and studentships must apply to the Board of Graduate Studies, 4 Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RZ, for admission as a Graduate Student (using the standard CIGAS form, available from the Board); preference will be given to those naming Fitzwilliam College as their first choice. Awards will be made to students in residence at the College during the tenure of the award. In addition, they should obtain an application form from the Graduate Tutors' Secretary, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, CB3 0DG, stating the award(s) for which they are applying. Applications for the above funds can be made as soon as admission as a Graduate Student has been confirmed by the Board of Graduate Studies. The latest date for applications to be received is 13 June 2001 for the Leathersellers' Graduate Scholarship and 1 October 2001 for all other scholarships and studentships.

All awards may be held in conjunction with another award.
