TANNER 2000 CALENDARS OPENING LECTURE AND SYMPOSIUM

The Tanner 2000 Calendars opening lecture and symposium will take place from 30 June to 2 July. The programme will be as follows:

Friday, 30 June

3 p.m. Opening lecture on the subject of 'Calendars', by Professor Stephen Jay Gould, Harvard University.
Lady Mitchell Hall, Sidgwick Site

The lecture will be open to all. Admission to the symposium will be by ticket. The programme will be as follows:

Saturday, 1 July
9 a.m. Cultures and calendars.
2 p.m. Science and the measurement of time.
Clare Hall, West Court, Herschel Road
Sunday, 2 July
9.30 a.m. The performance of time.
12 noon Music, by John Woolrich.
2.15 p.m. Panel discussion, chaired by Bishop Carolyn Tanner Irish.
4 p.m. Lecture and readings, by Professor Toni Morrison, Princeton University.
