National University Of Singapore

M.B.B.S.-PH.D. SCHOLARSHIPS

The Economic Development Board and National University of Singapore Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, is introducing a new M.B.B.S.-Ph.D. programme in July 2000.

The objective of the M.B.B.S.-Ph.D. programme is to train outstanding clinician-scientists who will contribute to the growing Life Science research and development efforts in Singapore. It will integrate Ph.D.-level training in basic research and M.B.B.S.-level training in clinical medicine over a period of eight years. The dual training in medicine and research will enable graduates from the programme to provide the interface between basic biomedical research and clinical applications and to provide leadership in academic medicine and biotechnology.

Applications are now invited for the M.B.B.S.-Ph.D. programme. The deadline for applications is 8 May 2000. Short-listed applicants will be required to go through two rounds of interviews in Singapore. Graduates with a B.Sc. (Honours) Degree in any life science discipline and medical students who have completed their pre-clinical training, and who have at least three months of research experience, are eligible to apply. Applicants must have an outstanding academic record and have a strong motivation to pursue careers as scientists or clinician-scientists.

Further information and application forms for the M.B.B.S.-Ph.D. Scholarship are available from http://www.med.nus.edu.sg/mbbsphd/
