COLLEGE NOTICES

Churchill College

SENIOR TUTOR

Churchill College, which is celebrating the fortieth anniversary of its foundation this year, is a well-established, informal, and forward-looking College, with particular strengths in science and engineering. It is seeking an innovative and resourceful person to take on the Senior Tutorship from September 2000. Serving an undergraduate population of over 440 students, this is a challenging role of critical importance to the future success of the College.

The Senior Tutor is responsible to the College Council for the education, discipline, health, and welfare of the undergraduate members. Working through a team of thirteen Tutors and forty-four Directors of Studies, he or she will administer an education budget of over £1.5m a year. As a Statutory Officer and member of Council, he or she will take a full part in the policy-making and governance of the College.

Candidates are expected to have an extensive background in admissions procedure, undergraduate teaching, student welfare, and academic administration. Benefits include a College Fellowship with full dining and residential rights, an entertainment allowance, and administrative support.

Initial appointment will be for five years and is renewable. A generous salary up to the professorial level (for a full-time commitment) is envisaged, with USS pension scheme membership.
