REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, they have approved amendments of the regulations for certain University examinations, as follows:

Natural Sciences Tripos, Part II, Biochemistry

The regulation for the subject Biochemistry in Part II of the Natural Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 351) has been amended as set out below. The purpose of this amendment is (i) to change the date of submission of the candidate's thesis, and (ii) to reduce the number of essays required from two to one and to change the date of submission of the essay. The regulation has been amended, with effect from 1 October 2000, as follows:

Regulation 32.

Biochemistry

By replacing in the first line of sub-paragraph (b) the words 'division of the Lent Term' by the words 'ninth day of the Full Easter Term in which the examination is to be held', and replacing in the last line of this sub-paragraph the words 'the first quarter of the' by the word 'Full';

By replacing sub-paragraph (c) as follows:

(c) Each candidate shall submit to the Examiners, not later than the eighth day of Full Lent Term, one essay, of not more than 3,000 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography), on a subject chosen by the candidate from a list of approved subjects announced by the Head of the Department; each candidate shall inform the Head of the Department of the subject chosen before the end of Full Michaelmas Term.
