SALVESEN JUNIOR FELLOWSHIP

The College invites applications for a Salvesen Junior Fellowship, tenable from 1 October 2000 for a period of two years. Since particular importance is attached to the Salvesen Junior Fellow's pastoral and liaison role with the junior members of the College, the successful candidate will be required to live in College and to take a full share in responsibilities connected with the communal life of the College. It is usual, therefore, for the College to elect an unmarried person to the Fellowship. On appointment, the Fellow will not normally be more than twenty-six years of age. The Fellow will be expected to engage in postgraduate study or research, whether in the Arts or Sciences, and may be asked to do a limited amount of teaching for the College. The stipend for a Fellow not in receipt of other emoluments is at present £10,000 a year, with an entertainment allowance of up to £354. The Fellow will be entitled to free rooms in College and the common meal, and will receive payment at capitation rate for any teaching undertaken for the College.

Application forms and further particulars may be obtained from the College Secretary, University College, Oxford, OX1 4BH (e-mail jane.vicat@univ.ox.ac.uk), and should be returned to her not later than 17 March 2000. Applicants should ask three referees to send references to her by the same date.
