The Council give notice that, on the nomination of the Vice-Chancellor, they have appointed Professor D. H. Mellor, DAR, to be a Pro-Vice-Chancellor from 1 February 2000 to 31 December 2001.
Professor Mellor succeeds Professor Q. R. D. Skinner, who resigned on 30 November 1999.
Statute D, IV provides for two offices of Pro-Vice-Chancellor. The other office is currently held by Mrs A. M. Lonsdale, NH, who was appointed for three years from 1 July 1998.
