St Peter's College

TEMPORARY STIPENDIARY LECTURER IN MODERN HISTORY

Applications are invited for a stipendiary Lecturer in Modern History, to teach twelve hours a week, for the academical year from 1 October 2000. The College requires someone to teach either the History of the British Isles, Paper 5 (1685-1830), or Paper 6 (since 1830), and one or more periods of General History (including American History) after 1700. The capacity to teach an Optional, Further, or Special Subject, and to assist with the teaching of Comparative History and Historiography and Approaches to History would be an advantage. The successful candidate would also be expected to participate in admissions, and to generally assist with the administration of undergraduate History in the College. Remuneration will be within the scale £15,334 to £18,915 a year. The Lecturer will have Senior Common Room rights.

Applications, together with a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of two referees, should be sent to the College Secretary, St Peter's College, Oxford, OX1 2DL, by Wednesday, 1 March 2000. Applicants should ask their referees to send references to the College Secretary by the closing date.

BODOSSAKI GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN SCIENCE

Applications are invited for a Graduate Scholarship, established by the Bodossaki Foundation, in any field of Science, including Mathematics, Engineering, and Medicine (especially Immunology and Oncology).

The Scholarship, which is open to Greek citizens who will be under the age of thirty years on taking up the award, is tenable for a period of not more than three years from 1 October 2000. The emoluments, totalling up to £10,500 a year, cover University and College fees and a grant for maintenance. The successful applicant will be required to read for a higher degree of the University of Oxford.

Applicants, who should have obtained a first class degree of a British university, or an equivalent Greek or other overseas qualification, should write to the Master, enclosing a curriculum vitae and an outline of the research proposed, together with the names of three referees. Referees should be asked to send references direct to the Master, St Peter's College, Oxford, OX1 2DL. Applications and references should arrive by 15 February 2000. Interviews will be held in Oxford, probably on 14 March 2000.
