Philosophical Society

Professor D. P. McKenzie, FRS, of the Department of Earth Sciences, will deliver a lecture, entitled An earth scientist looks at Venus, at 8.30 p.m. on Monday, 7 February, in the Cockcroft Lecture Theatre, New Museums Site. All who are interested are invited. There will be a short business meeting before the lecture.

At a meeting held on 24 January, Professor A. Howie, President, was in the Chair.

Professor J. E. Field, FRS, delivered the G. I. Taylor Lecture, entitled Experimental techniques for high rate deformation studies: G. I. Taylor's contribution and recent developments. A vote of thanks was moved by Professor L. M. Brown, FRS.
