THE OTHER PRIZE

The Other Prize is a prize for the writing of drama. It will be awarded for an original play of any length. It is open to those in statu pupillari in the University of Cambridge and will be awarded annually from the year 2000. The Prize will be a single award of £750, though a shared Prize may be awarded in the event of two equally appropriate candidates; the Prize will not be awarded if no entries are of adequate quality. The Prize will not be awarded twice to the same person.

The Prize will be administered jointly by the Faculty of English and Churchill College, and will be funded from the Kinsella/Ryan Trust. In addition to judges from within the University, there will also be adjudication by the Literary Manager of the RSC, who will run a workshop on the winning entry, with a view to production by the Marlowe Society.

Entries (in loose-leaf form) should be in typescript and must not bear the author's name. They should be sent, with a covering note of the name, College, and residential address of the author, to the Bursar, Churchill College, Cambridge, CB3 0DS. They should arrive by the last Friday of Full Term (17 March 2000). The judges' decision will be announced at the beginning of the Easter Term following.
