AWARDS BY OUTSIDE BODIES

Academic Study Group

ISAIAH BERLIN ISRAEL AWARDS, 2000

Applications are now invited for the Isaiah Berlin Research Travel Grants to Israel. The Academic Study Group (ASG) is a British charitable foundation which promotes research collaboration between British scholars and centres of excellence in Israel.

In the coming year, ASG will offer twenty to thirty modest, individual travel bursaries. Grants cover merely return air passage and a small sum more. Scholars in any field of enquiry can apply. Priority is given to first-time visitors to Israel; scholars who have corresponded with colleagues in Israel, and have received personal invitation to lecture/explore joint research programmes in Israel; and British scholars interested in obtaining research data for comparative Anglo-Israeli studies. Grants are generally not awarded to British scholars who have merely been invited to participate or present at international meetings held in Israel.

Applications, including a detailed curriculum vitae, a summary of reasons for wishing to visit Israel, and the names of Israeli academic counterparts or correspondents, should be submitted to John D. A. Levy, Academic Study Group, PO Box 7545, London, NW2 2QZ (fax 020 7794 0291, e-mail foiasg@foiasg.free-online.co.uk).
