Christ's College wishes to appoint an assistant to the Computer Manager. The primary role of this Assistant Computer Officer will be to provide front-line support to the Fellows, staff, and students of the College under the guidance of the Computer Manager and the Fellow for Computing. The post would probably suit a new graduate looking to expand skills in a first job, or perhaps a postgraduate writing up. The person appointed will have good practical computing skills, and will be able to communicate easily at all levels.
The position requires a working knowledge of networking, PC hardware, Windows NT workstations, Linux/Unix, and Novell Netware. Apple Mac experience will be an added advantage.
The post is part-time (eighteen hours a week) for a fixed term of one year. The future of the post will be considered during this first year. This non-pensionable appointment will be equated pro rata to the University T3 Grade (currently £14,051).
An application form may be obtained from the Fellows Secretary, Christ's College, Cambridge, CB2 3BU (e-mail fmb29@cam.ac.uk). Applications are required to be received by 31 January 2000. Interviews for short-listed candidates are planned for the week beginning 7 February. Information about the College is available on its website (http://www.christs.cam.ac.uk/).
