E. P. ABRAHAM PROFESSORSHIP OF CELL BIOLOGY

The electors intend to proceed to an election to the E. P. Abraham Professorship of Cell Biology, with effect from as early a date as may be arranged. The University wishes to recruit a senior outstanding research leader in any relevant branch of the subject to fill this newly-established Chair. A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Lincoln College is attached to the Professorship.

DIRECTOR OF HEALTH LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SERVICES

Applications are invited for the post of Director of Health Library and Information Services. The Health Care Libraries Unit, which is based in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, is a Department of the Division of Medical Sciences in the University of Oxford and is jointly funded by the University and the NHS Executive (South-East Region).

Reporting to the University of Oxford's Director of University Library Services, the post-holder will be required to lead and direct the strategic development and co-ordination of all health library and associated information services in the University of Oxford within the context of an integrated library service and taking account of the strategic aims of the Division of Medical Sciences. Within the NHS Executive (South-East Region) the Director is responsible for planning the co-ordination of services and resources among the libraries of the Health Libraries and Information Network in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, and Oxfordshire, and for setting priorities in service delivery and management to support national, regional, and local NHS policies and strategies.

Candidates should be graduates with a relevant professional qualification and preferably a higher degree, and should have substantial management experience in health or academic libraries.
