Cambridge-MIT Institute: Notice

22 November 1999

Following the formal announcement of the proposed strategic alliance between the University and MIT, the Council recognize the need to move quickly to develop detailed plans to put in place the proposed Institute and its activities, jointly with MIT and subject to the approval of the Regent House and to contract with the DTI. This will represent a full-time job for a senior University officer, starting immediately and lasting for several months.

The Council have therefore agreed that:

Dr D. A. Livesey be granted leave from the office of Secretary General, under Statute D, II, 6(b), for twelve months from 1 December 1999, to develop plans for the Cambridge-MIT Institute and its activities;

Mr G. P. Allen, Deputy Secretary General, be appointed Acting Secretary General whilst Dr Livesey is on leave, under Statute D, II, 8.
