Girton College

COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Girton College wishes to appoint a College Lecturer and Official Fellow in Biological Sciences, from 1 October 2000 for a fixed term of five years. The Lecturer will be required to teach in small group supervisions for twelve hours a week during academic terms, and to take a full part in the administrative aspects of College teaching in the Biological Sciences, including direction of studies and admissions.

The Lecturer will be expected to teach a range of subjects across all three years of the Natural Sciences Tripos, particularly in the Part IA Biology of Cells, Part IB Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Part IB Molecular Cell Biology, and Part II Biochemistry courses.

The person appointed should have an active record of excellence in research, with an ability to attract research grant money. It is expected that he or she will join one of the established research groups in an appropriate University Department.

The stipend, which is pensionable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme, is on a College Lecturer scale, starting at £16,286 a year. Initial placement on the scale will be determined by age and experience.
