The following lectures and seminars will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:
English. A Special Lecture, entitled Modern European storytelling, will be given by Dame Antonia Byatt, DBE, at 5 p.m. on Monday, 22 November, in Lady Mitchell Hall, Sidgwick Avenue. The Lecture will be introduced by the Rt Hon. Chris Smith, Secretary of State for Culture, Media, and Sport, and alumnus of the Faculty.
Divinity. The 1999 Teape Lectures will be given by Mark Tully (broadcaster and author) in the Divinity School, St John's Street. The two lectures will take place at 5 p.m. and the seminar at 4.15 p.m.

Fitzwilliam Museum. Lunch-time Gallery Talks, under the general title Art in context, will be given at 1.15 p.m. on Wednesdays, from 13 October to 1 December.

Philosophy. Professor John Cottingham, of the University of Reading, will give the 1999 Heffer Public Lecture, entitled Reason, the emotions, and the good life, at 5 p.m. on Friday, 19 November, in the Little Hall, Sidgwick Avenue.
