Lucy Cavendish College

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN ARTS AND SCIENCE

The College is offering three Research Fellowships for women* who already hold Ph.D. Degrees. The appointments will be tenable for one year in the first instance from 1 October 2000, and will be renewable for a further two years, subject to satisfactory progress and annual reports. Successful candidates will be expected to become members of the College, to reside in Cambridge, and to participate fully in College life.

1. Lu Gwei-Djen Research Fellowship

Applicants should hold a doctorate in a Scientific subject (or their doctoral dissertation should be under examination), preferably in Applied Medicine or Biology, for research which relates scholarship to current issues facing the world. The stipend will be in the region of £11,000 a year, depending on funding already available to the candidate, with possible additional allowances to help with accommodation, child-care and/or research expenses.

2. Alice Tong Sze Research Fellowship

Applicants should hold a doctorate in an Arts subject (or their doctoral dissertation should be under examination). The Fellowship is for study in the Arts, especially languages, which relates scholarship to current issues facing the world. The stipend will be in the region of £11,000 a year, depending on funding already available to the candidate, with possible additional allowances to help with accommodation, child-care and/or research expenses.

3. Greenwood Bidder Research Fellowship

Applicants should hold a doctorate in any subject (or their doctoral dissertation should be under examination). The award of up to £3,000 a year is intended to supplement other funding to enable the applicant to undertake or continue a research project.

* By the Employment Act 1989, the College has exemption from the provisions of the Sex Discrimination Act, 1975.
