Downing College

FELLOW AND COLLEGE LECTURER IN LAW

Downing College invites applications for a Fellowship and College Lectureship in Law, with effect from 1 October 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Lecturer will be responsible, with the College Director of Studies in Law, for the academic work of our undergraduates in Law. Applicants with a special interest in European Law and in Administrative Law will be particularly welcome.

FELLOW AND COLLEGE LECTURER IN MATHEMATICS

Downing College invites applications for a Fellowship and College Lectureship in Mathematics, with effect from 1 October 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is intended primarily for someone active in a branch of Pure Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics (including probability). The Lecturer will be responsible, with the College Director of Studies in Mathematics, for the academic work of our undergraduates in Mathematics, and may wish to participate in the activities of the University Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.

In each case, the appointment, which is open to both men and women, will be for three years with a possibility of renewal for a further two years, and is subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the College. Further periods of reappointment may be possible, but will depend on the College's continued need for the post as well as on the individual's performance in it. The stipend of a College Lecturer, which can be pensionable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme, will be at a point in the range £17,238 to £22,579 (University Assistant Lecturer scale), depending on age and experience.
