St Catharine's College

DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE MUSIC

St Catharine's College seeks to appoint a Director of College Music, with effect from 1 January 2000 or earlier, subject to availability, for two or three years in the first instance. The Director has responsibility for oversight of Chapel music, the College Music Society, and the general administration and co-ordination of the musical life of the College. St Catharine's has a very strong musical tradition and offers the Director many opportunities to work with gifted young musicians. The successful applicant should ideally have experience of organizing a choir, and be able to conduct the choir and play the organ on an occasional basis. Good interpersonal skills and a capacity for administration are important aspects of the work. The post does not involve the teaching of music as an academic discipline. The duties are considered to involve the equivalent of up to two days a week during term, for which a stipend of £2,500 a year and appropriate dining rights are offered.

Application should be made to the Master's Secretary, St Catharine's College, Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1RL (tel. 01223 338349), from whom further particulars may be obtained. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and the names of not more than two referees before the closing date of 27 October 1999.
