New Hall

RESEARCH STUDENTSHIP

New Hall normally offers a fully funded three-year graduate studentship in each academic year, at present there are three holders of New Hall Studentships in residence. The Studentship covers both University and College fees at the level payable by a home or EU student, with a maintenance allowance equivalent to that provided by a UK state studentship. Details of the next Studentship competition will be announced in the College web pages at http://www.newhall.cam.ac.uk/proxyadmissions/graduate/ and in the Reporter, as soon as one is available.

UNIVERSITY RESEARCH SCHEME

The College is also a member of the University's Domestic Research Studentship Scheme. This is open to UK and EU students who wish to undertake research as registered Graduate Students in any field of study within the University - students must be registered as Ph.D. or prospective Ph.D. candidates.

Applications for this scheme are made through a Department or Faculty. Candidates for this shared studentship should name New Hall as their College of first choice on the CIGAS Form A application form and have to be nominated by their Department or Faculty and will be considered for an award in the summer preceding their October entry.

It is a condition of these awards that the candidates should also have applied for a studentship from the Arts and Humanities Research Board (AHRB) or other UK Research Council. This Studentship provides support similar to that of an AHRB Studentship (this includes University and College Fees where appropriate for UK and EU students, and UK applicants also receive an allowance for living expenses similar to that provided by the AHRB).

OVERSEAS BURSARIES

New Hall offers four overseas student bursaries to assist women Graduate Students from outside the UK and EU by providing part funding for their course. The Bursaries are intended for outstanding overseas students who might not otherwise be able to fund their studies in Cambridge. Only available to students who list New Hall as College of first choice on their CIGAS Form A are eligible for these awards. No separate application is needed but candidates should write to the Executive Graduate Tutor at New Hall expressing their wish to be considered for a Bursary at the same time as they submit their CIGAS Form A to the Board of Graduate Studies.
