Statutes approved: Notice

30 July 1999

The Registrary has received notice from the Clerk of the Privy Council that Her Majesty the Queen, at a Council held on 21 July 1999, was pleased to approve the amendments of Statutes A, B, G, and T which were submitted under the Common Seal of the University in accordance with Graces 2 of 21 October 1998 and 1 of 2 December 1998.

The amendment authorized by the first of these Graces relates to Statute B, III, 9, which governs allowances of terms; it was necessary to amend the existing provisions in order to accommodate the joint course in Law established between the Universities of Cambridge and Paris II (see Reporter, 1997-98, p. 961).

The amendments authorized by Grace 1 of 2 December 1998 were proposed by the Council in their Report dated 9 November 1998 (Reporter, 1998-99, p. 129); they comprise a clarification of one of the provisions governing membership of the Regent House (Statute A, III, 7(e)), the correction of an error in the drafting of the provisions for the assessment of College contributions under Statute G, II, and the repeal of a number of temporary provisions which are now spent (Statute T, 34, 35, 36, and 49).
