University offices: Vacancy

The University follows an equal opportunities policy and has a policy on arrangements for part-time work.

Applications are invited for the following University office:

Senior Assistant Treasurer (Senior Management Accountant) in the Finance Division of the University Offices

Senior Assistant Treasurer to join the University's Financial Management Team with special responsibility for management accountancy, including the development of financial reporting systems across the University. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the postholder will be responsible for leading a team of five. The role of the Management Accounting team includes identifying, presenting, and interpreting information used for a wide range of purposes. The postholder will be expected to review existing financial reporting mechanisms and ensure that proposals for enhancing management information systems are implemented. This relates in particular to the development of an Executive Information System as part of a large project to introduce Oracle Financials as the University-wide accounts system.

Applications are invited from qualified accountants, preferably CIMA, with experience of information systems development. Experience of Oracle Financials and University or Public Sector accounting would be an advantage. The appointment will be for three years, unless that requirement is waived by the Council, with the possibility of reappointment to the retiring age.

The pensionable stipend for a Senior Assistant Treasurer is £34,464 a year, with a pay award pending. Assistance with relocation is available.

Applications, including a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of two referees, should be sent to the Deputy Treasurer, University of Cambridge, Finance Division, The Old Schools, Trinity Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1TS, by 16 June 1999.
